The Geopolitics of Greta-s Flotilla (Times of Israel - 3 Oct 2025)
How convenient, and how perfectly synchronized: Greta’s flotilla arrives off Gaza’s shore just days before the deadline of President Trump’s ultimatum to Hamas. The timing is impossible to ignore.
I am not a conspiracy theorist, but the coincidence is striking. The ultimatum expires, the IDF launches a larger operation in Gaza, and flotilla participants suddenly find themselves in the middle of it, in Gaza’s streets and along its shores, holding posters while Palestinian women and children cry out, “Genocide! Genocide! The Israelis want to kill us,” broadcasting it live across global platforms.
Meanwhile, left-wing and pro-Palestinian activists around the world had been preparing for days. What better catalyst to ignite mass protests once again? For over two decades, many young people worldwide have been exposed almost exclusively to a leftist, pro-Palestinian narrative. Today, that demographic is easily mobilized and serves as combustible fuel for civil unrest.
They even seem to anticipate Hamas rejecting Trump’s deal. If that is the case, how would they know in advance?
The same planners, financiers, and organizers behind October 8 appear to be the ones now mobilizing demonstrators and shaping the narrative. The Jewish world must work to defuse potential triggers for new protests. And when prevention is not possible, we must be ready with the prevailing narrative. For example: “We cannot allow Greta’s flotilla into Gaza because it risks turning activists into human shields, exposing both them and Gaza’s civilians to intensified military operations.” Or: “If Hamas rejects the deal, the presence of flotilla members in Gaza could serve as a human buffer against an IDF offensive.”
The Israel Defense Forces confront military threats on the battlefield; the rest of us face a parallel, global struggle in the public square. This battle is fought with narratives, rallies, political campaigns, social-media posts, and the ideas taught in classrooms. It requires planners, funders, networks, and committed activists, and it demands our urgent attention.
If defenders of Judeo-Christian and liberal democratic values wait until tomorrow, it may already be too late. Once cultural and institutional shifts take root, reversing them can take decades, if not centuries.
This is a call to Jews, Christians, and all citizens who value pluralism: we must organize, speak clearly, and invest in the institutions that sustain free societies, our schools, civic organizations, media, and public forums. Radical groups that dream of a global caliphate have been working their way into Western societies. They seek to conquer not with bullets but with ballots, exploiting our democracy as a means of infiltrating cities and institutions. In their own countries they do not practice democracy, nor do they believe in it; instead, they use our principles and values against us.
They are also exploiting our youth. After years of influencing and infiltrating educational institutions, they can now mobilize large numbers of young people to march through the streets of cities worldwide, defending causes that are not what they claim to be. In the case of Hamas, a U.S. and EU-designated terrorist organization, this means portraying and defending terrorists as though they were the victims.
This is a call to action: one to be carried out without violence, but with clarity, intelligence, and resolve. Wherever you are, stand your ground with courage, determination, and an unwavering voice.
